The Practice Pole: This ingenious idea was first used at the 1993 National Scout Jamboree. One
of the three rappelling towers used this box and pole to introduce rappelling to the Jamboree
participants. The top of the box is three feet high. This allows participants to "practice" going
over the edge while the instructors can stand on the ground and instruct each individual.
